This week we talked about our experiences hiring help on our projects. The Lean startup tells us to always validate needs before investing time in building something. But assuming you have validated that something must be done (built), how do we go about getting help? You can find quality devs around the world that work for a lower cost. You’ll want to think of this in terms of Return On Investment (ROI). And since suing folks outside the USA is difficult you should withhold final payment until you get everything you need from the project.
We also discussed the balance between working on your passion vs working to make money. For example, the CEO of the toilet paper company is probably not passionate about toilet paper. And success generally requires hardwork. But working on things you care about help you push when get tough (and in business things often get tough).
